Mercian Events at a UK First

The UK’s first high quality natural capital market has been launched by Trinity Natural Capital Markets, complimenting the product range of it’s
partner company Trinity AgTech.
Trinity NCM was launch on Thursday 14th October as part of Countryside COP. The launch was streamed live from Overbury Estate Gloucestershire.

Trinity NCM’s Senior Natural Capital Manager, Louisa Knocker, says it’s time farmers and managers are properly rewarded for the natural capital in their care.
“Natural capital describes the aspects of nature that are all too often overlooked and undervalued – the trees, hedges and ditches, meadows and bird cover, the soil, air and water, all living things, resources and services that come with them.
Mercian Events were asked to provide a full Audio-Visual Conference package for an expected audience of 30 guests at the venue with a further 100 to 500 watching via live streaming, the perfect Hybrid event.

On site at Overbury, a professional 86” LED screen was the focal point for all the presentations taking place set against the backdrop of a creatively lit mammoth combine harvester using carefully placed LED uplighters. In total, eight radio microphones were used together with a 16-channel digital audio mixer with four conference speakers and stands.
A full mobile studio streaming package using vMIX software was employed complete with 2x Birddog P200 cameras providing all the image collecting requirements. Pushing all the right buttons at the right time were four technicians.

Trinity AgTec Director of Communications and PR Tom Allen-Stevens commented “This was a really important launch event for us, into an entirely new market place for farmersWe wanted to break new ground with the format, but couldn’t afford a technical glitch. Mercian Events delivered a really professional and technically proficient service. The standard of the audio and video that was live-streamed and recorded was excellent.”

Mercian events were also contracted to provide detailed video coverage of an estate tour following the live presentations, the first time we have set up an HD camera and cameraman on the trailer of a tractor!
The event was a great success and a vital feed-in element to COP 26.

Large Staff Union go Virtual for the first time

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic a long-standing client of Mercian Events held their bi-annual conference from our Virtual/Hybrid studios in Redditch in October 2021.
For they NGSU – Nationwide Group Staff Union, this was a first, and also unknown territory, having for years relied on conventional face to face conferences to connect with and bring their members up to date.
Our Director of Events Ben McCaffery worked tirelessly with the conference organisers and co-ordinators to perfect the complex nature of this conference and fine tune the many presentations made over the three days of the event.

An integral part of the conference were the videos produced by Mercian Events which included an animated video depicting the new NGSU logo
transitioning from the old to the new.
Four key members of NGSU staff were present at the TV studios connecting with their members via presentations, moderating member communications and assisting in the running of the conference.
Many presentations were given by members on line via the pre-presentation studio we set up to facilitate and co-ordinate all member presentations prior to their actual presentation going live.

We created a members’ only password protected NGSU conference website for this event which went live two weeks prior to the conference allowing members to register for the event. It also provided members with information about the conference, including scheduling, content, profiles and all relevant news pertaining to the conference. Recordings of all the presentations were also present on the website for members to view at any time during or after the conference.
Alongside the members’ website we also created a non-members’ version that allowed non-members the Union to watch the conference but not participate.
Using software called SLIDO members were able to text moderated messages onto the main screen relevant to the presentations being given, this proved very popular and provided the NGSU team with useful feedback.
We provided a fully equipped vMIX Streaming/Recording studio
plus a back-up, just in case.

This conference was full of the very latest virtual/hybrid communication technology and great credit must be given to our technical staff and the staff at NGSU for the dedication and endurance they gave to ensure the three days went without a hitch.

“Thanks for a fab conference”, commented Beverley Cubbon Individual Cases Officer at NGSU, “Really enjoyed working with you guys … such professionals and lovely too.”
