Time to introduce the faces behind the scenes at Mercian Events…
Meet our Director, Tim Istead 👋
Tim has been with Mercian Events since September 2002… nearly 24 years! In that time, he’s played a key role in building the business into what it is today.
Even as Director, Tim is still very much part of the day-to-day, whilst sometimes behind the scenes working through accounts and invoicing, and other times out on site, involved in visits, rigs and de-rigs, and keeping in touch with clients old and new.
What drives him most is continuing to grow the business he’s helped shape and build something that lasts for years to come, something he can eventually step away from with pride, passing it on to the next generation at Mercian.
Outside of work, Tim spends most of his time in the countryside walking his two dogs, gardening, and following Aston Villa & Gloucester Rugby.
⭐ Fun fact: On the days his two dogs are in the office… they’re the ones in charge. More on the real bosses another day!

Meet our Events Director Ben McCaffery 👋
Ben has been with Mercian Events for over 20 years, playing a key role in the growth of the company and delivery of live events across the UK and Europe.
Leading the planning and delivery of our corporate conferences, large-scale award ceremonies, roadshows and exhibitions, he works closely with clients to build strong relationships and ensure every event runs smoothly from concept through to delivery. With a calm, practical approach and a strong understanding of live production, he helps turn ideas into well-executed, memorable events.
Outside of work, he enjoys training at the gym, cooking, and travelling whenever he gets the chance ✈️

⭐ Fun fact: He competed in the PCA Physical Culture Bodybuilding Competition in 2016, finishing 2nd out of 20 competitors🏆
