Overview: The 2025 NGSU Staff Conference was a pivotal event for the union, held every two years to set priorities and decide on future actions. As the union’s primary decision-making forum, the conference enabled members to submit motions, debate ideas, and make final decisions that would shape the union’s direction over the next two years. By providing a platform for direct member participation, the event ensured delegates had a meaningful voice in guiding the union’s priorities. The final day also featured a Nationwide Bank session, focused on engaging their staff in a practical and interactive setting.
Preparation for the conference began 18 months in advance, ensuring every detail was carefully planned. The setup was completed on Sunday, the day before the event, allowing a smooth start to the conference on Monday. Five Mercian team members were involved in the setup and de-rig, with the event run on-site by three of our skilled technicians.
We provided professional audiovisual production, including a custom built conference set, 10m x 3m stage set, a 4-speaker PA system, 10,000 ansi lumen laser projector, 65-inch repeater screens, and three comfort monitors (one for the lectern and two for their top table). To complement the conference sessions, we provided engaging evening entertainment, including a DJ on Monday evening and a quiz on Tuesday, offering delegates valuable social opportunities.
The event was captured using three 4K cameras, with a show highlights video presented at the conclusion of the conference. Full footage of all three days was delivered to the client, providing an official record of the motions debated and voted on.
Over the course of the three days:

- Wednesday: A Nationwide Bank session focused on staff
